Delete your Nod account

Last updated 3 October 2026

You can close your Nod account and ask us to delete your data at any time. This page explains how, and what the law requires us to keep.

In the app

  1. Move any money left in Nod to a bank account in your own name (Send → bank account).
  2. Wait for any transfers that are still pending to finish.
  3. Open Nod, tap your initials, then Close account at the bottom.
  4. Confirm with your PIN.

Your account closes straight away. You'll get a confirmation by notification, and by email if you've added one.

Without the app

If you no longer have the app or your phone, email [email protected] from the email on your account, or message us on WhatsApp +234 906 901 9514 from the phone number on your account. Tell us your name and phone number. We'll confirm it's you (we may ask for a selfie through the app or another check) and help you move any money out, then close the account within 7 working days.

What happens to your data

Deleted or stopped straight away

  • You're signed out on every phone, and your phone and its notification token are removed from your account.
  • Your @username is released, and nobody can send money to your Nod account any more.
  • We stop sending you alerts and messages, apart from confirming the closure.

Kept for 5 years, because the law requires it

Nigerian law (the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and Central Bank of Nigeria rules) requires us and our partner bank to keep identity and transaction records for at least 5 years after an account closes. This covers:

  • your name, date of birth, BVN, NIN, phone number, email and address;
  • the results of identity checks, and documents you uploaded to upgrade;
  • your transaction history and any reports you made.

We keep these securely, use them only for legal and regulatory purposes, and delete or anonymise them when the period ends. You can still ask us for a copy during that time.

Questions: [email protected]. More about how we handle data in our privacy policy.
